Are you being forced to stay indoors during beautiful days because your allergies are so bad? Though lots of people wrestle with allergies every day, you do not nned to be among them. There are hundreds of different substances that can incite an allergic reaction; these reactions may occur in varying severity and with different symptoms. Read the article below so you know how to treat your allergies.

If you own pets, bathe them frequently when allergy season arrives. This is especially true for dog owners. Not only, are pets’ hair and dander irritants on their own, animal fur is a magnet for pollen floating in the air, allowing these particles to hitch a ride on your pet and invade your home.

The amount of dander and pet hair produced by indoor dogs and cats is immense and ends up in carpet, on furniture and throughout the air. In most cases, simply vacuuming or dusting is not sufficient to remove enough pet allergens to make a home suitable for those who are allergic to these animals. Even with allergy shots, this type of allergy is best accommodated by keeping pet’s outdoors for the majority of the time.

Watch your local weather forecast to see if pollen is high for that day. If it is, it’s best that you minimize your time spent outdoors. If you do want to go outdoors, make sure it’s not between the hours of 5 and 10 A.M. This is the time when pollen is high.

Keep your doors and windows closed if you suffer from allergies. While a lovely breeze through your home can be refreshing, it can also cause misery if pollen aggravates your allergies. Use fans or a central air system to circulate the air instead, which should minimize your allergy symptoms.

Shower, and wash your hair before going to bed every night. Believe it or not, pollen can collect in your hair and on your body. Causing allergies to worsen overnight. Be sure to wash your body, and hair thoroughly before going to bed. This can be prevention for this happening.

After years of dealing with the itchiness of allergic skin and eczema, constant scratching becomes a tough habit to break–even after allergy therapy. This can cause further damage to the skin, so you should cover the area with a thick protectant like Vaseline or vitamin E oil under an elastic bandage. This allows your skin to heal and can help you to break the cycle.

Be sure to wash your hair immediately when you get inside, if you suffer from allergies and there was pollen outside. You do not want to allow the pollen to stay in your hair for too long, as this can trigger your allergy symptoms. It is best to wash your hair twice.

Avoid using throw rugs in your home. These can collect dust and mold and can make allergies worse. If you must have rugs in your home, choose ones that can be washed. You should wash them at least once every few weeks to minimize the build up of dust and mold.

To minimize dust in your environment, clean with microfiber cloths, mop heads, and other tools. Unlike cotton cloths, microfiber cleaning cloths have a slight electrostatic charge, that enables them to grab onto dust particles. Rather than being spread around the room, dust particles stick tight, maximizing your cleaning power.

In the first few months of their lives, household pets like dogs and cats generally have little to no dander. As they get older, shedding and dander problems become more pronounced. Because the animal has lived in the house up to that point, owners may be reluctant to believe their beloved pet is the cause of the sudden onset of allergic symptoms. An allergy test can help to identify the true culprit.

Look for a solution. As a pet owner with animal allergies, you may find yourself miserable with symptoms but too devoted to banish your dog to the backyard. While it is impossible to entirely prevent a dog from shedding and producing dander, you do have options. Many have found that regularly taking pets to the groomer makes living with man’s best friend far more tolerable.

Keep garbage outdoors. Garbage attracts bugs and rodents. Droppings from rodents can worsen allergy symptoms. If your rodent problem persists, it may be time to consider rodent traps. If traps do not work, you should consider using poison to alleviate any rodent problems.

If you are prone to allergies, consider replacing natural or feather-filled pillows with ones made of synthetic materials. Dust mites aren’t as attracted to synthetic pillows as they are to natural ones. While you will still need to launder these pillows like any other, you will be sleeping on a more suitable allergen-free surface.

It doesn’t take a genius to see that allergies can adversely affect your quality of life. Even more fortunately, you don’t have to be a genius to find relief! Try these tips and tricks here and you will be able to have fun outdoors instead of hiding indoors.
